STEELHEART Frontman Comments On Passing Of Band's Original Drummer

March 23, 2008

STEELHEART frontman Miljenko "Mike" Matijevic has issued the following statement regarding the passing of the group's original drummer John Fowler:

"I am deeply sad to say my old friend and the original drummer of STEELHEART, John Fowler, has passed away on Friday March 21 at 11:00 p.m. from a brain aneurysm. He will always be with us. We will 'Never Let You Go.'

"John was a true musician, dedicated to his art. I can't remember a time that John didn't have music to fill his day.

"I am happy to have shared the stages throughout the world with him. Every night I would climb his crazy massive drum set to reach down into his world and slap his hand for a great show. It will always be with me.

'Rest in peace my friend; we all love you. Fly with the angels. We'll see you on the other side."

Fowler, who gained notoriety for touring and recording with the band STEELHEART with the 1990 hit song "I'll Never Let You Go (Angel Eyes)", also dedicated himself to projects such as THE VOODOO JETS, SMOKE, and HIPNOTIC. Fowler also instructed hundreds of drum students in the southern Connecticut region.

Fowler had been on life support in a Connecticut hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm last Monday. John's beloved son Sebastian, along with close friends and family, shared his final moments bedside while blasting THE VOODOO JETS track "Spaceman" in the hospital's ICU.

Funeral and burial ceremonies will be held in the coming days.

Donations can be made to The Sebastian Fowler ROCKS Memorial Fund on behalf of John's son to the following address:
